Kissing the ground
as the cost of waste is becoming more expensive, smart designers adopt what they have, rather than what they'd ideally like. They keep the rocks, rocks and old trees and recycling of paving. Consequently, many find that they get better gardens with more character.
Last year, we saw many familiar gardens at Chelsea, with artificial rock and stone in an old Victorian tradition. But times are changing and the wily Chelsea garden designer in 2016 and advantage of the chaos of the natural shape of the landscape to impose a milder form, more relaxed planted garden.
In our gardens, we can all think of using fewer hard surfaces and expose the underlying topography and terrain, softening the landscape with abundant plants.

go green with paths lawned
If you read gardening magazines in recent years, you could be forgiven for thinking everyone is turning to fake grass, but then it has a place, there is nothing that beats a big lawn.
There has been a movement since the 1970s, with seminal works by Sylvia Crowe and John Brookes, the fields, planted low-maintenance, but there are many places in a garden where our first choice will always be for smart lawn.
This year at Chelsea, the lawn is back, especially for community gardens, such as the Chelsea Barracks garden designed by Jo Thompson.
You can easily create your own paths of grass at low cost like in this garden. And with steel edge for shaping maintenance free and soft green area, it will show your beautifully plants.

color in your planting work
After a long period of aspiring fashion boundaries, designers are heading to the colorful plantation. We like the plants in the late spring and a very reliable plant Chelsea is the iris. There is rarely a year where there is not at least a garden with a sea of this great perennial.
Traditionally, we see many iris in classic dark blue or purple light, but keep an eye on the most unusual colors, such as dark red-brown "action front." You can easily add color to your garden in May with the iris and combine them with herbs and other conventional plants Chelsea, like purple fennel Foeniculum 'Purpureum' and peonies, such as Paeonia 'Buckeye Belle'.

Add deep purple as an accent
There are a classic combination of pale violet, white and roses at Chelsea, but accent colors are particularly important, as the sun can drain the impact of the color of plants in a show garden.
For this reason, you will see many deeper colors as accents, and in 2016 he seems to have a keen interest in the deep purple foliage of plants, including phormium to compensate calcareous greens alchémille and pale blue and purple all these geraniums and salvia.
Chelsea planting programs are known to change at the last minute if the cold weather means plants are not ready or particularly large perennial is earlier than expected, but we've seen some lists of plants and deep purple is ready to appear around the showground this year.

Introduce exotic foliage
Chelsea is the perfect place to see the gardens of the world. Last year, we had the gardens of Singapore, Slovenia and Australia, among others, and their influence on our gardens in the UK is immeasurable. This year, expect to see the influence of climate and international regions, with many more exotic foliage in our gardens.
With increased informality in the spaces of the city, and we embrace the challenge of climate change, we will all be using more exotic, such as major structural fan palm in the garden. And of course, as this picture shows, they are stunning when lit from below.

Dig for a sunken garden
from a designer won best in show with a very simple construction, there has been a trend without dig, flat garden. We expect that, while many will follow this trend yet, there are some designers who plan to play levels. Charlie Albone comes from Australia with an inspired Melbourne area including a sunken garden like this that we created at the Hampton Court Palace Show in 2013.
Sunken Gardens gives you plenty of opportunities to get closer planting and create comfortable, closed spaces that take you away from the daily pressures of life. They should not have walls like this, but when planning your own garden below, remember that the wall can become a handy seat to accommodate extra guests at a party.

Try the trend for outdoor tiles
a big trend in recent years has been the launch of porcelain tiles suitable for use outdoors. These tiles mimic stone or wood and have become important for difficult sites, or if you want to minimize the impact on nature that extraction could have.
Because of this trend, designers are rediscovering more traditional exterior tiles, as these fantastic the encaustic. Often made in Morocco, they add real pizazz to a small courtyard, and are rarely more expensive than traditional paving.
There are other interesting materials made using techniques developed for interior tiles, such as cast stone. Remember they can be slippery in our humid climate.

Paré return to raw materials
garden trends often come from the inside fashion and a big trend in the homes over recent years has been to shield walls back to their rough surfaces. We now see it outdoors, especially in urban gardens, and expect to see in the smaller fresh section at Chelsea.
Texture and character are the big winners here and the garden with a shovel. Climbers create a green season and interest, with the addition of this large chunky furniture, the result is simple but effective.
Follow this, granular raw trend in your own garden by removing the external plaster, but make sure that the walls are sound, because they are more exposed to the outside.

Bring formality the country
This garden is an excellent example of the changes we see in the gardens of the country to a much more formal space. It was started by a move in our gardens in the city, which unsurprisingly are now moving towards a new informality!
Last year at Chelsea, country gardens have led the way, with the magnificent M & G swimming pond and beautiful deep, whole sections of the plantation relaxed inspired by the river bank. This year, expect to see designers create more formalized country areas, which makes the hand of the designer much more obvious.

Be your garden romantic
How this great stone wall pushes ahead a romantic plantation house design? We all have ideas about the novel in a garden means to us and many will think of this cottage classic English style.
There used to be a staple of Chelsea, but slowly disappeared as designers introduced many hard materials. However, the modern design is moving back to the plants and horticulture and all leading to a more romantic style as a way out of daily pressures. For all of us it is a real winner, because it also means much less maintenance daily!
