Garden Design: Creating a garden Wow With Color Purple - As warmer weather arrives, there is a special color that speaks of long days and warm nights: purple. It is the color of an English summer, especially the high summer days when verbena and lavender flowers are blooming, and the end of the foliage and cotinus actaea are exposed. He is a large sheet for the other colors, too, and works especially well in combination with the green, white and pink of the plant world.
But not only this color often overlooked altogether, it is also one that designers are sometimes not adventurous with, by default the same, the security of plants in this hue, rather than exploring the multitude of subtle purples found in scarce - or less fashionable - species and varieties. And what a shame, because there's so much to enjoy! These simple ideas inspire you to seek some lesser spotted plants in this royal shadow - and who cares about what is in fashion with flowers as beautiful as these?

Combining different tones
This works well for all colors - choose plants in various shades of purple, and in different forms, but always for a deconstructed look consistent. It is ideal for a cottage style garden like this, where vertical salvia and allium and relaxed Nepeta were used to maintain the plantation flowing across the border, but in a loose style casual.

repeat for the impact
Take one color and repeat it in the garden can help tie together a planting program. Here, the purple was used not only in plants, such as deep purple salvia and actaea to right center, but also in the attractive purply gravel path. The backdrop limit is made of black stained ash panels, adding to the drama.

Some purple plants, as archangelica Angelica variety, have a surprisingly dark foliage and stem that lets you use the plant as if it were black, giving structure and architecture in a border. Angelica archangelica looks amazing in a summer planting program and will attract many beneficial insects and birds, too.

There are many floors in natural stone available that have a dark purple-gray color. They look especially good air when it rains, and, well, we have a lot of this in the UK! Welsh slate is a great example, but you can also get dark deep purple granite, sandstone and Welsh with rich veins of black, purple and gold.

lilac shrubs are less popular with designers these days, but just look at the rich purple of this standard Syringa vulgaris . There are many varieties to choose from, like 'Katherine Havemeyer', but sometimes for the richest flavor, it is worth returning to this case, and it will reward you with fragrant flowers and structure to multiple stems throughout the year.

Cercis siliquastrum , commonly known as Judas tree name, is well loved for its deep pink flowers. But there is another burst of color when the fruit with purple pods flattened, giving it an impact that few other small garden trees can match. Go for colored carpet
a rich, deep carpet color is a smart way to plant a large area, especially convenient if you do not want a lawn. Here, the saxifrage is contrasted against a spiky grass that brings up the garden and draws the eye along the entire length of the space.

Hydrangeas always look fab in a mass planting. In some countries, like France, they are often used as hedges. To make the color really pop, frame against the simple palette of greens, such as herbs and boxwood hedges and myrtle side of this great hydrangea.

Add just a hint
Some plants, like fuchsia, purple have keys in their flowers or foliage. Shrubs such as smoke bush ( Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple') are perfect for large bursts of color, but for a more subtle look, choose herbaceous plants - for example, perennial geraniums - that combine purple with other colors, including white, red and pink.

using a dominant color brings harmony in a garden, but try to use different tones for added interest and add hits of contrasting color for a more vibrant look. In this planting scheme, the designer chose purple as an underlying theme, but added jewel-like little sparks of white and cream to bring the plan to life.
